CyanogenMod running on over 110,000 devices; full stats out

Ever wondered how many Android users are adventurous enough to try an after-market or custom firmware of their devices? While these firmwares bring several much needed tweaks and help in optimizing the device performance, but it is not always easy to install them at-least for everyone.

Well, we have the stats for CyanogenMod before us. There are over 117,100 devices right now, which are running on CyanogenMod’s one or the other firmware.

Coming to the device based stats, the most number of CyanogenMod installs are on HTC Desire [18,919] followed by HTC Evo 4G [14,942] and Nexus One [14,063].  Interestingly Nook Color has more installs than Nexus S.

If you don’t know what CyanogenMod is, here is a quick answer from their website:

CyanogenMod is a customized, aftermarket firmware distribution for several Android devices. Based on the Android Open Source Project, CyanogenMod is designed to increase performance and reliability over Android-based ROMs released by vendors.  CyanogenMod also offers a variety features & enhancements that are not currently found in these versions of Android.
