Telstra launches $99 Android smartphone in Australia

Telstra has launched a new Android smartphone in Australia today. Dubbed as Smart Touch, it is a rebranded ZTE Racer and will be sold for just $99 on pre-paid.

Telstra Smart touch features Android 2.1, 2.8-inch resistive touch screen, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM radio and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

“The Smart-Touch is an affordable way for our prepaid customers to access and enjoy features like mobile web-browsing, social networking and email,” said consumer executive director Rebekah O’Flaherty in a statement.

Telstra is promoting two prepaid offers for this phone: Cap+ and Weekend+.
