Broadcom working on chips for budget Android phones

Advertisements

California based chipmaker Broadcom has announced plans to introduce a processor that the company said should help Google in its objective of cutting down Android price points.

This is in contrast to the game plans of nVIDIA and Qualcomm which are designing even more powerful chips for high-end of the phone and tablet markets.

“The chips we’ve announced allow Android phones to cover the gamut,” Broadcom chief McGregor told Mobilized.

He explained that more material on a single chip means lesser prices, and with Broadcom’s latest chip, Android devices should be able to extend all the way down to the middle of the feature phone market.
