Tencent to launch Android phone in China

Advertisements

If you thought Facebook was the only web service building an Android phone [although allegedly], you were wrong.  Tencent [QQ], which is the most popular free instant messaging computer program in China, is soon going to launch an Android smartphone, which will integrate its IM software and more in it. The smartphone is being manufactured by Huawei and will cost somewhere around $150.

“I’m kind of surprised it took so long for a QQ phone to come out given the massive user base for Tencent,” said Duncan Clark, chairman of Beijing-based technology consultancy BDA. With over 600 million active accounts on QQ, Tencent’s HiQQ phone could be a hot product among Chinese users.
