Sony Ericsson today announced on their developer blog that Xperia Arc will be the first phone to come with ANT+ support. According to Wikipedia, ANT+ is primarily designed for collection and transfer of sensor data, to manageable units of various types. The three main areas of operation are sport, wellness and home health. It can be used for data-transfer for a number of devices.
So Sony Ericsson Android phones will now be able to pushing your health related data to any Android application, or any other equipment which supports ANT+.
According to SE, there are number of different ANT+ enabled sensors and devices available in the market today. In addition, there are a large number of ANT+ supported apps to collect, analyze, compare and share your data in various ways. These devices and apps can turn your Sony Ericsson handset into a main hub for fitness and health activities, as well as for communication and entertainment.
Apart from Xperia Arc, ANT+ support will also be introduced in Xperia X8, Xperia X10 mini, and Xperia X10 mini pro through software upgrades in Q1 2011.
