Asus A50 launching in Taiwan before year-end

Asus will be launching its first Android smartphone A50, after the break-up with Garmin, in Taiwan market this month.

Asus A50 comes with an obsolete Android 2.1, Qualcomm 600MHz processor, 3.5-inch touchscreen and Garmin’s 1690 navigation support.  A50 will be sold for a price below NT$9,900 (US$332).

According to Digitimes, Asustek aims to sell a total of 25,000 units of the A50 in the Taiwan market in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Senao International, according to Benson Lin, president of Asustek’s handheld device business unit.
