Guys, it does not bring Hindi nor Arabic. Hindi is all square boxes and Arabic is broken. Just run the SDK and you will see. Really I don’t know why they list Hindi and Arabic as supported when the code base has no technology to render indic scripts at all. Insanity.
@Ravi : I have a 2.1 based Samsung phone (Galaxy I5801) and it supports Hindi perfectly. I had expected Gingerbread to support more languages.
@Alam: I have tested Froyo as well and it did not work. Now by does not work I mean that Halant Forms are not working and Choti Ei Matra is not re-ordered. We can try to read it, but it’s not really that pleasing. We are filling an bug report here especially since Android now claims to support Hindi:

My test shows that by choosing Input Method as Hindi what Android does is it uses the google-api to send the keystrokes to google and bring it back with suggestions based on the keystrokes. That means without an internet connection input method would not work either.

Android is complete ridiculous – not single Indian languages are supporting in 2.2 & now 2.3, for installing font on android bloody we have to root out phone.
If you want to browser Hindi web sites just install SETT Hindi Browser.

It is an exclusive browser for Hindi & it displays Hindi well in any device above Android 2.2.
@Ravi Chhabra This browser has also corrected the Choti Ei Matra re-ordering. So no issue in reading Hindi.

I am using android os honeycomb 3.1 tab,its perfect but without hindi font compatibility its use in India is half,customer cant fully utilize this device.So i request to make it more worthy pl develop hindi language pack for this os than only in international market it will be in top list.

Well, if one has to install a new web browser just to be able to read devanagari, I suggest you migrate to iOS devices. My iPhone, iPad and iPod, they all allow me to read Hindi and type in Hindi and, mind you, no jumbled characters here! On the other hand, my first Android tablet (which did not cost less…) is completely useless in this respect. Any buyers?
