Amazon India has revised the price of its Prime Lite membership. It’s a stripped-down version of the regular Prime membership. It was introduced in June 2023 with an annual subscription cost of Rs. 999. With the Prime Lite price cut, Amazon hopes to attract even more customers to Prime. But the company has also reduced the Prime Video access from two devices to one device as a part of the Prime Lite membership.

New Amazon Prime Lite subscription fee

The Prime Lite membership will now cost Rs. 799 annually. There is still no monthly or quarterly subscription plan, and you can only opt for an annual subscription. The price cut was quietly mentioned on the company’s customer service page and first spotted by the folks at MySmartPrice.

Amazon Prime Lite subscription benefits

If you are thinking of getting the Prime Lite subscription, here are all the benefits you will get:

  • Free one-day, two-day, scheduled, and same-day delivery to eligible addresses
  • Morning delivery at Rs. 175 to eligible addresses
  • 5% cashback on Amazon purchases using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card
  • Access to Amazon Prime Video, but you will only get one concurrent stream in HD quality with ads
  • Early access to lightning and deals of the day on Amazon
  • Prime Advantage offers such as no-cost EMI and 6 months free screen replacement
  • Access to the Prime Day sale

You can get a Prime or Prime Lite membership by visiting the Amazon website

What’s not included in Prime Lite but included in regular Prime

Here is what’s missing from Prime Lite compared to Amazon Prime:

  • Morning delivery at Rs. 50 to eligible addresses
  • Access to Prime Reading
  • Access to Amazon Music
  • Ad-free unlimited access to Prime Video
  • Access to Prime Gaming

Amazon Prime is a value-for-money membership if you shop frequently and want unlimited music and Prime Video access. However, the cost of Prime membership has gradually increased over the years, and it now costs Rs. 1,499 for 12 months, which is quite a bit for many people in India. By offering Prime Lite, Amazon hopes to capture people who only want some Prime benefits. But it wasn’t a great deal at the launch price of Rs. 999. However, the Rs. 799 pricing makes much more sense, given its benefits.
