Mi TV 5 Pro with quantum dot display teased to launch in India soon

Xiaomi seems to be planning to bring one or more of its quantum dot display TVs to the Indian market, as per the teasers shared by Mi India as well as Sudeep Sahu on Twitter. Sahu is the boss of TV business at Xiaomi India. The most likely candidate for launch seems to be the Mi TV 5 Pro lineup that was unveiled in November 2019. Mi TV 5 Pro series includes three size variants; however, we are unlikely to see the launch of all three in the country.

Xiaomi will most likely just launch the 55-inch model of the Mi TV 5 Pro, and at best the 65-inch model as well. The Mi TV 5 Pro 55 model is priced at CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 41,800) in China. India price should be in line or may be slightly more.

The Mi TV 5 Pro 55 comes with features like a 4K quantum dot HDR10+ display with 108 percent NTSC color spectrum. Quantum dot displays normally offer better colours and brightness than traditional LCD panels. The TV also features a 1.8mm ultra-narrow metal bezel and a 5.9mm slim body. It is powered by Amlogic T972 octa-core processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Further, there are integrated microphones in the TV for voice control and smart TV functions. These should help with Google Assistant in Android TV platform.

Xiaomi hasn’t shared a launch date at this point; however, given the teasers, we expect a launch in a matter of days if not weeks.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is also expected to launch its Mi 11 phone soon that will be powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC. Some tipsters claim a launch might happen in December itself, whereas others suggest a January 2021 debut. Mi 11 will be the next flagship phone of the Chinese company.
