Redmi Note 9 series is all set to get 5G phones this week and ahead of the announcement, the Xiaomi sub-brand has already revealed the design of one of the phones in the lineup in its full glory on Weibo. It is likely to be Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. Additionally, the brand is also teasing several features of the lineup; however not much is confirmed. Thankfully, there have been plenty of leaks and benchmark website sightings to suggest what we can expect from the Redmi Note 9 5G and Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G phones. In addition to the Redmi Note 9 5G series, the company will also very likely unveil a new Redmi-branded smartwatch.

Redmi Note 9 5G series launch date, time, livestream

Redmi is hosting a virtual launch event on November 26 in China where it will unveil the new 5G phones. The event will kick off at 8pm local time. It will be streamed live on Weibo and other social media in the brand’s home market.

Redmi Note 9 series background

Redmi Note 9 series was originally unveiled back in March this year with Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max phones, both of which come with 4G LTE connectivity. The company later added Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 phones, both of which as well include just the 4G LTE support. The company is now expanding the lineup with 5G phones that will also mark the introduction of the series in China.

As per a leaked specifications sheet published on Weibo, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G will feature an LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is also said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC. Further, the upcoming Redmi phone is said to carry 4,820mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC support, IR blaster, and dual speakers. 

For photography, the phone is said to feature 108-megapixel main shooter on the back. Another tipster has claimed that there would be a total of four cameras on the back of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, including a super wide-angle camera, a telephoto shooter, and a macro camera. The phone was also allegedly spotted on Geekbench that has tipped the presence of Android 10 and 8GB of RAM (in one of the variants). 

Moreover, an alleged TENAA listing has indicated that we will get a 6.67-inch full-HD+ display, 16-megapixel selfie camera, up to 256GB of onboard storage, up to 12GB of RAM, and a microSD card slot in Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. TENAA is a regulator from China that certifies mobile devices and more before their sale in the country. It is a rather credible source.

An alleged TENAA listing for Redmi Note 9 5G hints at the presence of 6.53-inch full-HD+ IPS display, 5,000mAh battery, Android 10, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of onboard storage, and a microSD card slot. Further, the phone is tipped to carry three cameras on the back, including a 48-megapixel main shooter. The front will house a 13-megapixel camera.
