On the heels of Nokia 8 smartphone unveiling, HMD Global is getting ready to launch a budget offering. Set to be dubbed as Nokia 2, the phone was recently certified by US regulator FCC and the attached documentation has revealed a key detail.

FCC documents suggest that Nokia 2 will feature a big 4,000 mAh battery. The battery size is especially interesting because the other rumoured specifications of the phone are rather underwhelming. Nokia 2 is allegedly going to feature one gigabyte of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor, dual-SIM support and 4G VoLTE connectivity.

Among other specifications, you can expect the phone to run Android Nougat, if not Oreo.

There is no word on an exact launch date for the Nokia 2 or the pricing for that matter, but given the specs, I am hoping to see an aggressive price-tag.

In related news, HMD Global has started selling the Nokia 8 smartphone in Malaysia, making it the first Asian country to get the phone. The phone carries a price-tag of RM 2,299 ($545) in the country.
