Micromax Canvas A1 receives Android 5.1.1 update

Google has started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update for Micromax Canvas A1 (Android One) smartphone. The update is now available over-the-air and will reach all A1 units over the next few days.

Just 11.8MB in size, the update mainly brings improvements for the stability and performance of the phone as well as bug-fixes. The same update for Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno Android One phones is expected to be released in the coming days.

Update: All three Android One phones are now getting Android 5.1.1 update in India.

Sony SmartBand 2 confirmed via Play Store listing

Sony is yet to announce the next-gen smartband, but the existence of the same was confirmed via Google Play, when the companion application of the new SmartBand 2 SWR12 appeared on the app store.

The app listing, which has now been removed, stated that SmartBand 2 SWR12 will be a wrist band that tracks your body effort through pulse and HRV (Heart rate variability), keeps track of your movements and your sleep. The pulse and HRV data indicates that the Smart Bank 2 will come with a heart-rate sensor on-board and the same can be seen in the product shot included in the app listing. [via]

Upcoming 512GB microSD card is pricier than your smartphone

Microdia, flash memory and accessories maker from California, has revealed at the ongoing Computex trade fair in Taipei that it will launch a 512GB microSD card slot in July. The SDXC format card will cost around $1,000 and is being primarily targeted to professional photographers.

This card should work with most high-end Android smartphones that currently tout support for 128GB or 2TB cards, but given the price, you are better off with 128GB or 64GB microSD cards.

Dubbed as Xtra Elite, it supports data transfer rates of up to 300MBps. [Source]
