Next-gen Asus Zenwatch to be unveiled at Computex next month: Jerry Shen
Asus CEO Jerry Shen has revealed that the company’s next-generation Zenwatch is on track for launch in Q3 of this year and will be showcased at the Computex trade fair next month. He was speaking at a press event on the side-lines of the company’ earnings conference in Taipei.
Shen stated that the smartwatch will run on Android Wear platform and come with improved battery life. He dismissed the rumours of the delay in the release of 2nd-gen Zenwatch as a misunderstanding.
He warned that he doesn’t expect the Zenwatch to make any significant contribution to Asus’ total revenue as the demand for the device is unlikely to pick-up like its Zenfone line-up on account of the poor battery-life, which is plaguing all Android Wear devices. Still, the company is saying that Zenwatch 2 will last around four-days on a single-charge, which is double of what everyone’s offering right now.
No details are available about the device right now, but with Computex scheduled for June 2-6, we won’t have to wait for long.
