After making its way to third-party in-car infotainment systems, Android Auto is finally getting directly into the cars. Hyundai on Tuesday announced it is adding Android Auto to its 2015 Sonata in the United States, making it the first in-production car to get the platform.

“Android Auto aligns with Hyundai’s core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity. We launched this highly anticipated feature on our best-selling Sonata, adding to our promise of value. With the launch of Android Auto, we provide more owners with the experience of cutting-edge technology,” said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America.

While the new Sonata will come pre-installed with Android Auto, the existing owners of Sonata will be able to get the software upgrade at Hyundai dealerships. The update will also be available from the company website later this summer.

The company has also stated that it will be bringing Android Auto to more car models later, but has not shared the model details or expected roll-out times at this point.
