Motorola has rolled-out the Android 5.1 soak test update for the original Moto E smartphone in the Indian market. If everything goes well, the final update is likely to begin later next week.
Around 209MB in size, the update is now reaching the consumers, who had registered to take part in pre-release software testing for the Moto E (1st Gen) in the country. Unless, you had participated in the Android 5.0.2 soak test update for the Moto E, your phone will directly jump from v4.4 to Android 5.1.
Motorola has also published the final Android 5.1 change-log for the Moto E smartphone. It includes the usual Android 5.0 and 5.1 stuff like ART as default runtime, material design, enhanced notifications, upgraded multi-tasking UI, new flashlight option, smart lock and more. You can check out the full change-log below.

Motorola’s policy of older mobile first is great but also a bit annoying. Update for Moto E 1st gen means 2nd gen devices will have to wait a month more. Well worth the wait i suppose.
