Xiaomi expands product availability to Amazon & Snapdeal in India

Advertisements

In a surprise move, Xiaomi India on Tuesday announced that it is expanding the availability to its products to two more sales partners. The company will now also retail devices like Mi 4, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 4G and Mi Pad via Amazon India and Snapdeal. Flipkart, which was the original sales partner for Xiaomi, will continue to sell Mi devices.

The new sales tie-ups go live on April 8. Xiaomi has also revealed that The Mobile Store and Airtel stores will continue to offer select Mi products in the country, taking the total tally of retail partners offering Mi devices in the country to five. To remind you, the company also offers a few accessories from its own web store in the country

It is unclear at this point whether new retail tie-ups will have any impact on the company’s plans to go solo with its own web store in the country, as the company executives have been saying over the last few quarters. Going forward, it is quite possible that India, because of its diverse buying habits and still nascent internet penetration, will become one of the few Xiaomi markets, where the company will go to the consumers via multiple sales channels including its own web store, e-retailers and physical stores.
