Samsung makes XCover 3 rugged smartphone official

Over two years after its Galaxy Xcover 2 smartphone, Samsung has unveiled the successor in the form of Galaxy Xcover 3. Like its predecessors, the new smartphone is dust and water resistant with IP67 certification and can withstand drops of up to 1.2 meters. The smartphone claims to comply with MIL-STD 810G specifications.

There is no word on the pricing or availability details at the point, but Samsung is planning to showcase the phone at the upcoming CeBit trade fair, where it is likely to reveal these details.

Coming to the smartphone specifications, the Galaxy Xcover 3 features a 4.5-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat. The phone also packs 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 2200 mAh battery, NFC and 4G LTE support. In addition, Samsung has included 5MP rear camera, 2MP front snapper, and the usual set of connectivity options in the phone.

The smartphone also sports physical Android navigation keys like Home, Multitasking and Back buttons as well as a dedicated camera button, which can also act as a flashlight key.
