A few days back we had reported that Samsung has started working on the second generation Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets, which are expected to be launched by mid-2015. Today, SamMobile has published a new report with detailed specifications of these new tablets.
The website has learnt from unnamed sources that Samsung’s upcoming Tab S 2 SM-T710 will come with an 8-inch display and SM-T810 will feature a 9.7-inch display, down from 10.5-inch display on its predecessor Galaxy Tab S SM-T800.
Both new tablets will sport Super AMOLED screens with a resolution of 2048x1536p instead of 2560x1600p in the first-gen tablets, as a result of the adoption of 4:3 aspect ratio.
It is also rumoured that the Tab S2 tablets will be powered by Exynos 5433 processor, however Samsung might opt for Exynos 7420 processor as the tablets will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box, and a 64-bit processor will help in utilizing the 64-bit support, which has been introduced in Lollipop.
On the camera front, both tablets are believed to have 8MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The new Tab S tablets will also include 3GB of RAM, 32GB of in-built storage, which can be expanded using microSD cards of up to 128GB, and 4G LTE Cat.6 support. In addition, the 8-inch and 9.7-inch tablets will pack 3580mAh and 5870mAh battery respectively.
Lastly, SamMobile is reporting that the Galaxy Tab S 2 tablets will measure just 5.4mm thick and feature a metallic frame, however any details about the metallic design are a mystery at this point.
