Gionee to unveil new ultra-slim smartphone at MWC 2015

With less than a month to go for Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Gionee has announced that it is all set to launch a new ultra-slim smartphone, which will join the company’s growing portfolio of slim smartphones. The company’s previous super-slim smartphone Gionee Elife S5.1 garnered some attention from critics and fans, but it was quickly overshadowed by Oppo’s R5, which was thinner than the Gionee phone and packed better specifications.

Although Gionee has kept mum on the thickness of the new smartphone, the company has stated that it wants to move beyond just a slim design. With plenty of smartphone makers eyeing the thinnest smartphone spot, Gionee wants no compromise at the cost of trimmed waistline. The company claimed that most OEMs drop one or more key attributes to accommodate for the slim design, which Gionee promises to nullify and provide the best possible performance and user experience while also keeping the essential functionalities.

“The race to make the slimmest smartphone was getting out of hand. Going so slim is actually not benefiting user experience without the performance to back it up,” said by Oliver Sha, head of global marketing of Gionee.

Sha has stated that they are looking to take the super slim smartphones to a notch above and ensure thickness is not just a gimmick. Gionee’s MWC 2015 event is scheduled for March 2, where it will be unveiling its ultra-slim smartphone and as always we will bring you all the details right here.
