Xiaomi to unveil new Redmi-series smartphone on Jan 4

Xiaomi has announced on its official Weibo page that it will unveil a new Redmi-series smartphone on January 4. The company hasn’t shared any other official details about the phone, but reports indicate that the upcoming smartphone could be the successor to Redmi 1S smartphone, which was spotted in Chinese regulator TENAA and benchmarking app AnTuTu database recently.

As per TENAA and AnTuTu, the Redmi 1S successor (could be dubbed as Redmi 2S) will come with 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, Android 4.4.4-based MIUI 6, 4.7-inch 720p HD display, and 1GB of RAM. The phone will also feature 8MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, 2200 mAh battery, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 4G LTE support.

The Redmi 1S successor is expected to be launched in Black, White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple colour options. According to Xiaomi, the phone will go on sale first via QQ Space on the launch day.
