NVIDIA SHIELD TabletNVIDIA has announced that it will start rolling out the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update on November 18 for the Shield tablet, making it the third manufacturer after Motorola and LG to push the latest Android version to one or more of its devices.

The company has also shared a video showing the Shield Tablet with Android 5.0 on-board, check it out later in the report. NVIDIA has stated that apart from the all the Lollipop specific changes, the upcoming update will bring updated version of the Dabbler app, which not only get a new interface inspired by Google’s material design, but will also offer full support for layers, and users can now share live Dabbler sessions over Twitch.

Half-Life 2: Episode One comes to Shield Tablet

NVIDIA has revealed that the Half-Life 2: Episode One game from Valve is coming to mobile devices and has been optimized for Tegra K1. It will first land exclusively on the Shield Tablet.  According to NVIDIA, the game will be part of a “Green Box,” bundled for free with the 32GB/LTE version of the Shield Tablet. The bundle also includes Half-Life 2 and Portal.

GRID gaming service

NVIDIA’s game streaming service GRID is ready to go live. The company has stated that the service will be available in North America this month, Western Europe in December and Asia next year. It will be free for the Shield Tablet and Shield portable users through June 30, 2015.

“Gaming gratification should always be a moment away, too. That’s why we’re introducing our NVIDIA GRID on-demand gaming service. While GRID makes gaming gratification immediate, it took us a decade to invent the technology behind the service that streams GeForce GTX-quality graphics to SHIELD devices,” NVIDIA wrote in a blog post.

GRID will initially offer 20 games such as Batman: Arkham City, Borderlands 2, Brutal Legend and Psychonauts.

  1. Enough Nvidia with all the FPS’s, what people needed this holiday season wasnt a Green Box Bundle, but instead a bundle with the controller and the kickstand instead!
