Xiaomi Mi 3 IndiaAmid the reports of an alleged Indian Air Force circular to its members stating to avoid using Xiaomi phones due to security and privacy concerns, Chinese smartphone maker has published a clarification on its official Facebook page. “Since early 2014, we have been migrating our services and corresponding data for Indian users from our Beijing data centers to Amazon AWS data centers in Singapore and USA. Parts of this migration will be completed by the end of October, and all of it will be completed by the end of 2014. In 2015, we plan to launch a local data center in India to serve the needs of (and store data for) our Indian users,” stated Hugo Barra.

According to Barra, the local data center will not only improve the performance of the Xiaomi services but will also offer peace of mind to the consumers as their data will not be going to China or other countries.
