Joining the growing list of sources suggesting October 15 as the D-Day for the new Google announcements, Forbes is reporting that Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Android 5.0 will be unveiled later today. As we had anticipated, Google is not holding a press event and will just be making the new devices and Android version official via a blog post.
Forbes notes, citing an unnamed sources, that HTC-made Google Nexus 9 tablet will go on pre-order on October 17 and will be available next month, in line with previous rumours. The publication has not given any such specific dates for Nexus 6 smartphone but it is most likely that the new Nexus smartphone will also follow the same schedule.
In addition, the Forbes report states that Nexus 9 16GB Wi-Fi only version will get a price-tag around $399, however the 32GB LTE variant will retail for $499. The tablet is rumoured to feature a 8.9-inch 2048x1440p display, microSD card slot, NVIDIA Tegra K1 64-bit processor, 8MP rear camera and 3MP front shooter.
The tablet reportedly sports a brushed aluminium frame and front-facing stereo speakers. Google and HTC will also be releasing an “origami” magnetic stand-case for the tablet, which can apparently be bent into any shape and can fold in all directions.
