“India is a super-hot market with rapid data growth and this is the right time to enter the market. We are talking to all three leading e-commerce players in India to start our operations. We hope to finalise our partner this week,” Carl Pei, Director, OnePlus Global told ET.
According to a recent announcement by OnePlus in its online forum, the company has already hired an executive to look after its India operations but did not reveal the identity of the person.
Originally unveiled in April this year, OnePus One features a 5.5-inch full HD display, 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16/ 64GB of internal storage and 3100 mAh battery. The phone also packs Android 4.4-based CyanogenMod 11s, 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, 5MP front shooter and the usual set of connectivity options.
ET report notes that OnePlus will first be releasing the 64GB variant of the smartphone in the country, followed by the 16GB version. The pricing is expected to be around INR 20,000 but the final price-tag is yet to be fixed.
