Micromax working with Cyanogen Inc. to launch CM-powered smartphone: Report

Advertisements

Micromax has reportedly partnered with Cyanogen Inc. to launch a CyanogenMod-powered smartphone in the Indian market. According to The Information, this smartphone could be released before the end of this year.

No specifics are known about the rumoured smartphone but it will most likely be a budget Android phone with an aggressive price-tag.

To remind you, Cyanogen Inc. had earlier worked with OnePlus to release a CM-powered smartphone. The ROM-maker had also released a manufacturer-sanctioned CyanogenMod ROM for Oppo’s N1 smartphone.

In related news, Cyanogen Inc. recently got a prospective acquisition offer from Google, which the company turned down and is now using as a leverage in Series C funding round talks. It is eyeing a valuation close to $1 billion. With no revenue or even a revenue model to show for, the alleged acquisition offer is the sole option for the company to use in the funding negotiations.
