HTC India to host press event on Sept 23, Desire 820 & One Mini 2 expected

HTC India has started sending out invites for a press event on September 23 in New Delhi. Although the invite does not mention any details about what to expect on the day, we believe that HTC will unveil the new Desire 820 and One mini 2 smartphones for the Indian market.

To remind you, HTC Desire 820 was originally showcased at the IFA trade fair in Berlin earlier this month and comes with specifications like Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor, 5.5-inch 720p HD display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera, 8MP front shooter, 2600 mAh battery and dual-SIM support.

The Desire 820 runs on Android 4.4 but will be getting Android L update as that will enable the phone to finally tap into the 64-bit capabilities of the processor.

On the other hand, HTC One mini 2 was introduced in May this year as a smaller sibling of HTC One M8. The phone comes with 4.5-inch 720p HD display, Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 13MP rear camera. The phone also packs 5MP front camera, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

The official pricing of the smartphones is a mystery at this point but it would be interesting to see if HTC finally goes aggressive with the pricing of its smartphones otherwise there is simply too much competition in the mid-range segment for HTC to see any success with its crazy high prices of the phones.

pricing will be the key. will have to check if HTC learned something (or anything) or keep acting like a retard like they always do.
none of these have anything compelling that can demand more than 20k. One mini 2 shouldn’t cost more than 20k whereas Desire 820 can only be desirable if it cost 22-23k, anything more and it’ll become the company’s 99th failure. And going for octacore cortex a53 shows HTC is more interested in “looting” people than giving them a good genuine reason to upgrade. This also points to a potential 30k pricetag for Desire 820 & 5k less for One mini 2.

And i feel any company that ships octacore reflects the intent of the company as a whole. losing faith in itself and luring customers in, instead of earning them.

yeh agreed with u kaushik…their devices are sleek n s*xy but very expensive is only downside for HTC…anything between 20-22 k is acceptable.

Will the price of htc one m8 drop once above two models come in the market or will they make their century in wrong pricing strategy and people begin to forget htc forever just for their pricing policy

Y would d price of m8 drop mate. These devices are not better than m8. Although price of d816 should drop to 18-20 I guess
