Intex launches Android 4.4-powered phone for INR 2,699

Intex Aqua T2Indian smartphone vendor Intex on Tuesday announced the launch of an ultra-cheap Android smartphone in the country. Part of the company’s Aqua line-up, the new Aqua T2 will go head to head with the recently unveiled affordable Firefox OS smartphones.

Priced at INR 2,699, the smartphone will retail exclusively at in Black and Grey colour options.

“Amongst all handsets offering 4.4 Kitkat OS today, this one is definitely the lowest in the price segment and it comes with a 3.5 inch screen coupled with a 2G network,” Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, mobile business head, Intex Technologies, said in the statement.

“We are delighted to partner with e-commerce giant Flipkart and hope to further our association with more such innovative and best priced devices in the coming future,” Kalirona added.

The Intex Aqua T2 features a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 256MB of RAM, dual-SIM support, 512MB of internal storage and microSD card slot. The phone also packs 1200 mAh battery, 1.3GHz MediaTek dual-core processor, 2MP rear camera and VGA front shooter.

Although at the given price-tag, the specifications are decent but the limited on-board storage and low RAM remain two big roadblocks in decent smartphone experience. We hope that in the near future, we will finally start seeing at least 512MB of RAM in such phones with 4GB of on-board storage but until then getting an ultra-cheap smartphone will only result in a crappy smartphone experience.Intex Aqua T2

  1. please increase (double) the RAM & ROM for Intex Aqua T2 & Intex 4X Aqua to make them best budget smartphones available for 2G/3G categories respectively. i personally feel it would be revolutionary.
