In addition to the new Z3 family of devices, Xperia E3, and SmartWatch 3, Sony also announced the new QX1 and QX30 lens-style cameras on Wednesday in Berlin. Like all lens-style cameras, these can be connected to smartphones for a great imaging experience.
“Designed for mobile photography enthusiasts, the new high-zoom DSC-QX30 and E-mount interchangeable-lens ILCE-QX1 models combine ta premium compact digital camera with the convenience and connectivity of today’s smartphones, utilizing Wi-Fi connectivity,” noted Sony in a press release.
Talking about QX30 first, it includes a 20.4MP Exmor R CMOS image sensor with a 30x optical zoom lens (4.3mm-129mm). On the connectivity side, Sony has included NFC for quick pairing and Wi-Fi for smartphone connection.
It will retail for $350 in the United States and is already on pre-order with October 8 shipping date.
QX30:
Coming to QX1, which is the more versatile device out of the two, it, unlike other lens-style cameras, doesn’t come with an integrated lens but allows the users to mount a camera lens of their choice using the E-series mounting bracket on-board. The usual stuff like a 20.1MP APS-C Exmor CMOS image sensor, a flash module, microSD card slot, NFC and Wi-Fi are however present on the QX1.
According to Sony, the QX1 can works with all E-series lenses as well as with A-series lenses (using an extra adapter). It has been priced at $400 and is also on pre-order in US with October 9 shipping date.
