Bharti Airtel today took the wraps of a brand new music-streaming service for the Indian consumers. Despite being launched by a telecom operator, the new Wynk Music is a carrier-agnostic service and will be available to all consumers, however Airtel users do get some benefits, more on this later.

Available for free to stream to all, Wynk Music also provides song downloads, which can be accessed using a subscription. Although the company is promoting it as an unlimited service, it includes a fair usage policy (FUP) like Airtel’s internet plans. As per the FAQs posted on the service website, guest users will be able stream 100 songs per month, however subscription users will get 500 streams and downloads.

“A very small number of customers use an excessive amount of network bandwidth, to the extent that it cam impact the experience of others. The Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is designed to provide the best of streaming & download experience to all our customers,” Wynk Music writes trying to justify the FUP.

Here is a look at the subscription plans: INR 99 on Android (INR 29 for Airtel users), INR 60 on iOS, INR 129 (only for Airtel 3G users includes free data for Wynk Music usage)

Airtel users will be able to pay for subscription using the prepaid account or postpaid bill, others have the option of using Credit/ Debit cards, Internet Banking or PayTM wallet.

Catalogue: According to Airtel, Wynk Music includes a library of 1.7 million regional and international songs across 8 languages – English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali.
