LG on Thursday officially announced the new G Watch R circular smartwatch, which has been a part of the rumours for the last couple of weeks. The new smartwatch runs on Google’s Android Wear platform and includes the usual internals.
“What we’ve noticed in the year of the wearable is that this is a category that can’t be compared to smartphones and tablets. Wearables are also accessories and consumers will want more than one to choose from. So we wanted to complement the modern design of the original G Watch with the classic look of the G Watch R. Customers can’t go wrong with either device,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
According to LG, it has put a 1.3-inch circular Plastic-OLED (P-OLED) 320x320p display on the G Watch R, which it claims will provide excellent viewing angles and under-sun visibility. Among other specifications, the smartwatch comes with 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 410 mAh battery and 4GB of internal storage. It also packs water and dust resitance.
In addition, LG has included Gyro, Accelerometer, Compass, Barometer, and a heart-rate sensors on the smartwatch. The device will be released in Black colour option with a stainless steel frame and interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap.

LG G Watch R will go on sale in key markets in early-Q4, 2014. The pricing will be revealed at the time of local announcements.
