Asus’ Zenfone smartphones have been quite popular in the Asian markets. The Zenfone 5 specifically has been a bestseller in the company’s home market and continues to remain in short supply in other countries.

Now, Asus CEO Jerry Shen has revealed that the company is working on second-generation Zenfone line-up, which will include feature upgrades in design, camera, memory, battery and even UI. Shen stated at an investors’ conference that all, but one, second-generation phones will be support 4G connectivity, which has not been present on the original Zenfone smartphones. The company did release a variant of Zenfone 5 at Computex with LTE support but the original version with Intel processor did not have 4G support.

Jerry Shen noted that Zenfone 2 line-up will be unveiled at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015, which is scheduled from Jan 6-9 next year. He did not reveal anyother details.

Asus aims to sell 7.5 million smartphones in 2014, which is five times of the company’s last year shipments of just 1.5 million smartphones.

hope the next gen comes with bigger battery. Asus ruined a perfect smartphone with below average battery and power hungry intel chips.
