When more and more retailers are releasing self-branded products, how can Reliance Digital be left behind. The retailer has announced the launch of an Android smartphone in the Indian market today. Dubbed as Reconnect RPSPE4701, the smartphone has been priced at INR 12,999 and will be available at Reliance Digital Stores.
Update: Turn outs Reliance Digital has been selling products under Reconnect brand for sometime. They have two other smartphones in their portfolio but those are old and outdated Gingerbread devices. Thanks Rudradeep for pointing out.
The new RPSPE4701 phone runs on Android 4.2.2 and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor (likely to be MediaTek). The Reconnect RPSPE4701 also packs 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front snapper, and 4.7-inch HD IPS display.
In addition, the smartphone comes with 2000 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and dual-SIM support. The phone will be released in Black and White colour options.
As you can see, there is hardly anything exciting in the smartphone at this price-point. With Mi 3 selling at INR 13,999 or Zenfone 5 at INR 10,000, we don’t see why any consumer will be going for Reconnect.
What a joke…
U r getting 2gb RAM, 3000mah Battery, better processor just in 14k
Think, any brain less person is going to buy this just for getting only 1k less.
Why can’t u think out of box like Xiaomi

Xiaomi didn’t really think out of the box, they are not earning anything from the hardware. Instead they are focusing their earning through software (don’t ask how exactly). That’s why they are able to price their phone so low.
But, still Reliance – stupid move launching this phone.

As I know Reliance Digital has its own branding – Reconnect for some time. You can see them on Reliance Digital stores and there are several tab n smartphones under this brand.
I think Reliance Digital had plan to launch, but never anticipated Xiaomi’s extraordinary low price.
