Korean smartphone maker LG is expecting that its flagship smartphone G3, which was unveiled in the Indian market on Monday, will help it gain 10 percent of the country’s smartphone market share by the end of current financial year. As per IDC’s Q1, 2014 smartphone shipment numbers, LG isn’t even the part of the top five smartphone makers in country.
In addition, LG India’s Soon Kwon told Business Standard that it plans to launch several new smartphones before the end of this year, which will be priced across various segments and take the tally of this year’s smartphone launches from the company to 25.
“The most important part of our strategy (for India) is to bring in products which we can claim that it has the ultimate technology. We also plan to have some speedy launches of products in this market. In the next six months, we will see another 8-10 mobiles getting launched for this market which will help us to double our market share (in the mobile phone segment) in India,” Kwon said.
To remind you, LG has released G3 for starting INR 47,990 in the country, which is being joined by the company’s first Android Wear smartwatch G Watch. G3 is the second smartphone to reach the country with a quad-HD display.
