Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy S5 4G SM-S900I smartphone in the Indian market. The phone will be released in the next few days, revealed Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom.

The Galaxy S5 4G will support the Indian LTE networks and will be powered by 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which is also present in the HTC One (M8) smartphone. Other specifications of the S5 4G will be same as current retail version, which comes with 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 16MP rear camera.

The final pricing of the phone is still a mystery but it is said to be carrying an MRP of INR 56,000, however the MOP is expected to significantly less. We expect to see an official announcement soon, which should provide clarity on the pricing situation.

To remind you, the 3G version of Galaxy S5, which is currently on sale in the country, is available for as low as INR 35-36,000 at e-retailers like Snapdeal, Amazon and Flipkart. The phone however still retails at the hefty INR 51,000 at the official Samsung e-store.

There are few points I want to mention about this.

1. They should have first released this version instead of Exynos.
2. Even if they had released S5 with 801 initially I dont think people would have bought it because of hefty price tag.
3. Samsung high end phone sales are declining starting from S4. It continued with Note 3 and then to S5. The only reason is price.
4. They are maintaining market share because of the likes of Galaxy star, S duos etc…
5. I believe market share also starts declining starting from this quarter because of the likes of Moto G/E, ASUS Zenfone and Xiaomi.
5. If Xiaomi, ASUS and Moto can keep up with the demand it will be bad times for Samsung, LG, HTC, NOkia and Sony. Local OEMs like MMX, Karbonn, Xolo are already taking the beating.

This phne wont sell at this hefty price tag..!! Well htc one m8 users hav to wait only till august to get a firmware update which will make it combatible with indian LTE networks..:)
