Xiaomi to partner Flipkart for India launch: Report

Device launch in July or early-August

The recent launch of the India website by Xiaomi has pretty much confirmed the impending release of the company’s products in the country. Now, BGR India is reporting that the Chinese smartphone maker is partnering with Indian e-retail Flipkart to roll-out its devices and will not be selling the products in the country via its own web store.

The decision doesn’t seem to be surprising as India being a large country, there are logistics issues, which can be better handled by an existing player like Flipkart.

According to BGR India, Xiaomi will be launching its first smartphones and accessories between mid-July and early-August. While the blog notes that the company will be bringing Mi3 and Redmi to the country, we believe it will release Mi3 and Redmi 1S, which is an upgraded model of Redmi.

To remind you, Xiaomi Mi3 features 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.3 based MIUI OS. On the other hand, Redmi 1S comes with 4.7-inch HD display, Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, and 1.3MP front shooter.
