Jabong co-founder Manu Kumar Jain joins Xiaomi India

Update (June 11): Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra has now confirmed the appointment of Manu Kumar Jain as Xiaomi India General Manager.

Earlier (June 6): Xiaomi has reportedly hired Manu Kumar Jain, who is the co-founder of Indian fashion e-retailer Jabong.com, to oversee the Indian operations of the company as it gears up for the official launch later year.

According to a report in BGR India, Manu Kumar Jain will be responsible to kickstart Xiaomi’s operations in the country. Xiaomi is expected to announce its India-debut around September 2014.

To remind you, Manu Kumar Jain had earlier left Jabong in January this year to start his own venture Gynjer.  Jain is an alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta and he had worked with McKinsey & Company and Headstrong before joining Jabong as a co-founder and managing director.

In related news, Xiaomi is all set to enter the Indonesian market in August this year. Indonesia is one of the ten countries, where Xiaomi is hoping to launch its devices before the end this year. Apart from India and Indonesia, Xiaomi also plans to enter Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines.
