Chromecast goes on sale in Brazil for BRL 199

chromecastGoogle has released its media streaming dongle Chromecast in Brazil, making it the first country to get the device in South America. Chromecast will be sold for a hefty 199 BRL ($88) and can be grabbed from Extra.com.br, Pontofrio.com, and Casasbahia.com.br.

To remind you, Chromecast allows the consumers to stream the online media content to their HDTVs and control it via their smartphones or tablets. Chromecast also supports Chrome browser tab mirroring.

Currently, the Brazilian users can stream content from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Movies, Rdio, Vevo, Google+ Photos, MLB TV Premium, Crackle, Red Bull TV, Real Player Cloud, Beyond Pod, Viki, Avia and more using Chromecast. We expect the local online content providers to join the mix soon.

With the Chromecast release in Brazil, this dongle is now on sale in a total of 19 markets but most of Asia, South America and Africa is still waiting for its arrival. We hope to hear more about Chromecast’s international expansion plans and successor devices at the upcoming Google developer event I/O 2014 later this month.
