Acer announces Liquid Leap wearable & Liquid Jade smartphone

After teasing it at the recent press event in New York, Acer has finally announced Liquid Leap, which is the first wearable device from the Taiwanese manufacturer. The company has also unveiled the new Liquid Jade smartphone. Liquid Leap will be sold together with Liquid Jade in select markets later this year.

Coming to the details, Acer Liquid Leap is basically a smartband but it also comes with an always-on 1-inch touchscreen display, which will show time, date, weather information, incoming call/ text notification and will also allow users to control their phone’s music playback.

According to Acer, Liquid Leap tracks users’ fitness including steps, running distance, calories burnt, and sleeping cycle.  It is waterproof and includes Bluetooth 4.0, which is used to pair it with the smartphones. The company claims that Leap will offer 5-7 days of battery backup.

The wearable will be released in a variety of colour options like Moonstone White, Mineral Black, Aquamarine, Fragrant Pink, and Vivid Orange.

Coming to Liquid Jade, the smartphone packs a 5-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3, Android 4.4 and 13MP rear camera. The phone also includes 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 2100 mAh battery and dual-SIM support.

There is no word on the pricing right now, which will be revealed closer to the availability.
