Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 confirmed via Chromium code reviews

Thanks to a string of leaks in the past few weeks, it is no surprise that Google is working on a next-generation Nexus tablet, however thanks to the latest leak, we now know that it is indeed going to be called Nexus 8 and will be followed by a Nexus 6 smartphone.

Eagle-eyed Florian Kiersch has spotted a couple of references to Nexus 8 and Nexus 6 devices in Chromium code-reviews. These references do not include any actual details about the device but they do confirm that somewhere at Google headquarters, engineers are working on the Nexus 8 tablet and Nexus 6 smartphone.

As per previous rumours, Nexus 8 is an 8-inch Android tablet, which is being manufactured by HTC. It might come with an Intel or NVIDIA SoC and will be released in the coming months. We could see an official announcement at Google I/O 2014 or slightly later than that like last year.

There is practically no information about Nexus 6 right now but if it is anything like the last two Nexus smartphones, we can expect high-end specifications in an aggressive price-tag. It will be arriving in Q4 2014.
