According to LG, the new display panel will go into mass production shortly and comes with just 1.2 mm thickness. It also has a mere 1.15 mm bezel, which will be the narrowest available and 0.05 mm less than panels introduced last year.
“This product fulfills the core qualities of smartphone displays, which are high resolution and slim design, and I believe the consumers can enjoy vivid images that are close to real life with this display. LG Display will continue to maintain technology leadership in the super high-resolution smartphone display market above 500 ppi resolution, which will take off this year,” said Byung-koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display’s IT/Mobile Development Group.
To remind you, apart from LG, Oppo, Samsung and possibly HTC are releasing Quad-HD smartphones this year.

My eyes cannot see the difference beyond HD for these sized screens. Heck, I would probably have to try hard to see the difference between 720p and 1080p. Maybe for those young eyes out there…
Now all we need is for QHD OLED displays to get out there so the Oculus Rift can finally get rid of that screen door effect. Hurry up, guys!
