Following in the footsteps of Sony, Oppo is also preparing a Lens-style camera lookalike in the form of Smart Lens. This upcoming lens camera from Oppo has leaked on Chinese Twitter clone Weibo, giving us a clear look at this QX10/QX 100 competitor.

Judging from the leaked images, like Sony, Oppo will also be using NFC for quick pairing of the Smart Lens with a smartphone or tablet. The actual connection will however be using Wi-Fi Direct. The images also reveal that Oppo Smart Lens will come with 10x optical zoom support.

Other details are unclear at this point but a previous rumour had suggested the presence of a microSD card slot in the Smart Lens. Among other details from this previous rumour, Smart Lens will feature a 16MP image sensor and image stabilisation.

There is no word on the pricing or availability right now. We are also not sure if Oppo is working on only one Smart Lens camera or more. We are actively tracking the story and will let you folks know as soon as something new pops up.

In related news, Oppo has unveiled the new R1S smartphone, which is now on pre-order in the company’s home market China for 2498 yuan.
