In a bid to make it easier for the international consumers to access and reach Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker has changed its website domain to Mi.com. “The new domain is simpler and more accessible to an international audience,” the company said in a statement.
Xiaomi currently operates in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. According to the company executives, it plans to start operations in Malaysia next, followed by Indonesia and Thailand. After its roll-out in South-East Asia, the company will move to India and Latin America.
With expansion in so many countries, it makes sense for Xiaomi to have a clear international identity and online space, which will now be provided by Mi.com. The domain will also act as the hub for the company’s e-commerce activities including the sales of smartphones. To remind you, Xiaomi retails its smartphones from its online store as well as via telecom operator tie-ups.
