Lenovo unveils A526 dual-SIM Android phone for INR 9,499

Lenovo India has announced that it is releasing the new A526 Android phone in the country. Featuring dual-SIM support, the smartphone has been priced at INR 9,499 and will go on sale beginning April 5 at the company’s online store and major retailers.

The phone packs 4.5-inch FWVGA display, Android 4.2, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor and 1GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 3G support, FM Radio and 2000 mAh battery. Lenovo has included a 5MP fixed focus rear camera an 0.3MP front camera on the smartphone.

The overall specifications of the phone are decent but we are disappointed at the presence of Android 4.2 and just 854x480p display resolution. If not 720p HD, Lenovo could have put in a qHD display for this pricing. Also, a fixed focus rear camera at 10K, really Lenovo?

“Out of the 876 million mobile phone users in India1, about 10% of the users own a smartphone. However, today there is an influx of devices specifically targeted at this untapped segment in fast-growing markets like India. With the Lenovo A series range, we are looking at revolutionizing the concept of budget phones in India by offering consumers a superior smartphone experience at an affordable price point,” said Sudhin Mathur, Director-Smartphones, Lenovo India.
