Xiaomi introduces Redmi Note, coming to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore

Xiaomi has introduced the international variant of its Hongmi Note smartphone as Redmi Note. According to Hugo Barra, who is VP of Xiaomi Global, Redmi Note will go on sale in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore in May. Barra also added that it will reach more markets thereafter. He did not reveal the names of these markets but they could be one of the Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and India or Latin American countries, which also seem to be an area of focus for the Chinese smartphone maker.

In addition, Barra has announced the full specifications of Redmi Note, which packs a 5.5-inch 720p HD IPS display, dual-SIM support, 3200 mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The phone will be released in two variants, one with 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek 6592 processor and 1GB of RAM and other with 1.7GHz MediaTek 6592 octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The 1GB RAM variant will be sold for $129, while 2GB RAM varinat will retail for $159.

To remind you, the Chinese version of the phone – ‘Hongmi Note’ goes on sale on March 26 and is currently on pre-order via Tencent’s Qzone.
