While, the reason behind Huawei’s decision is unknown, online reports suggest that both Microsoft and Google are discouraging manufactures from going for dual-boot Android/ Windows Phone devices.
Taiwanese manufacturer Asus, which was also supposed to launch a dual-OS device – “Transformer Book Duet TD300,” has now indefinitely postponed the plans. According to a report in WSJ, the company was facing pressure from both Google and Microsoft.
However, in related news, Indian smartphone vendor Micromax is still planning to release its dual-OS LapTab device, which was originally showcased at CES this year, reports TOI. One reason, why Micromax seems to be able to go forward with its plans and other manufacturers are not, is that the company’s has reportedly got retail licenses for Windows OS being used in the device. So, rather than opting for volume licensing, which normally manufacturers go far, Micromax has removed Microsoft from the process. The LapTab however still seems to have been delayed as it was supposed to go on sale last month.
