Lenovo unveils three S-series smartphones

Lenovo has begun its Mobile World Congress outing with the announcement of three new S-series smartphones on Monday. The Lenovo S860, S850, and S660 are mid-range Android smartphones and will go on sale beginning June, 2014 in select markets.

According to the company, the S-series smartphones run on slightly outdated Android 4.2 and come pre-loaded with Lenovo’s new DOit apps suite.

“The new S860, S850 and S660 smartphones perfectly complement the full range of mobile devices available to consumers around the world, letting consumers easily pick the Lenovo smartphone that’s right for them. Customers told us they wanted longer battery life without sacrificing performance, so we built these new smartphones for all-day usage, blazing fast processing speeds, and a great user experience,” said Liu Jun, executive vice president, Mobile Business Group, Lenovo.

Talking about the specifics, Lenovo S860 features a 5.3-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front camera and dual-SIM support. Lenovo has included a huge battery of unknown capacity on the phone, which it claims will a standby time of 40 days and talktime of up to 24 hours.

Coming to Lenovo S850, the phone also packs a 720p HD display and 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor but in an all-glass body. Other specifications of the phone include 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

Lastly, Lenovo S660 will come with a 4.7-inch qHD display, a metal design, microSD card slot, 1GB RAM and 8MP rear camera.

Pricing: The Lenovo S860, S850 and S660 start at $349, $269 and $229 respectively.
