A report from Press Trust of India is claiming that Reliance Jio will start its 4G LTE services in Q3 this year. The company will first launch 4G LTE in Delhi and Mumbai circles followed by Southern states.

The company is reportedly testing products from Samsung and ZTE for use on its 4G platform but no concrete information is available right now.

“The company has prepared its network architecture plan under which it will provide booster antenna kind of device. This antenna will receive signal from mobile tower and a cable from this antenna connect a set-top-box or a modem kind of device inside home that will create Wi-Fi network for telecom service inside home. The STB has been developed on Google’s Android platform,” PTI report noted.

Reliance Jio, which also won spectrum in 1800MHz band in 14 circles in the recently held 2G auction, is likely to offer voice-services as well but probably a few months after the 4G launch.

To remind you, Airtel is the only telecom operator, which is currently offering 4G LTE services, in India. It recently launched its 4G on smartphones service in Bangalore using circuit switch fallback technology.
