The moves comes almost nine months after the company originally started shipping Glass to Explorers in the United States. The availability of prescription frames is an important feat for the company in the road to mass market release of this device. Google has indicated that Glass might reach market in late-2014.
According to the New York Times, Google has partnered with US-based optical health insurance provider VSP to offer subsidized frames and prescription lenses for Google Glass. VSP will reimburse members based on their prescription plan, with an average reimbursement of $120, plus the cost of buying prescription lenses.
