Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth 2 tablet official

Huawei has listed a new Android tablet called MediaPad 7 Youth 2 on its website. The tablet is an upgraded version of the company’s previously launched MediaPad 7 Youth. There is no word on the pricing or availability right now.

It features a 7-inch 1024x600p TN display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor, Android 4.3 with Emotion UI 1.6, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The tablet also packs microSD card slot, 3G support, Wi-Fi, and 4100 mAh battery.

It will be taking on the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, Dell Venue 7 and other budget tablet offerings.

Huawei’s own octa-core chip ready

In related news, Huawei’s Richard Yu has revealed that his company’s octa-core HiSilicon chip is ready. Based on 28nm HPM, this octa-core SoC is expected to come with the usual quad Cortex-A15 plus quad Cortex-A7 big.LITTLE combo. This is not all, according to Yu, the SoC will pack multi-mode LTE modem that can handle both WCDMA and TD-SCDMA radios.
