KitKat continues to rise, ICS and GB lose market share
Google has released the first Android platform statistics for 2014 and there is no surprise. KitKat and Jelly Bean continue their rise being the latest Android versions, while the older versions like Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich are losing market share.
In terms of the specifics, Jelly Bean (Android versions from 4.1 to 4.3) is now present on a total of 59.1 percent of the active Android devices that checked-in Google Play over the week ending January 8 (4.6 pc increase over the last month).
Jelly Bean is followed by Gingerbread, which still controls over 21 percent, and Ice Cream Sandwich with almost 17 percent of the Android devices.
Among other Android versions, KitKat is now on 1.4 percent of devices with an increase of just 0.3 percent since December, 2013 and FroYo on 1.3 percent.
